Antonios Faraklas, has been the Managing Director of Charterwell Maritime S.A. and Chartworld Shipping Corporation, established 1972 and 1992 respectively, since 1980.   Of a Marine Engineering background himself, he has a close follow up and primary hands-on view for the technical and commercial aspects of the companies.   He has led the company through its evolution from the small family shipping company it was in the early 80’s to the major diversified Management Company that it is today.     Mr. Faraklas holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Sussex University and an MSc in Marine Technology from Strathclyde University.   In July 2023 he was honored at the Efkrantis Awards with the award for “Manager of the Year 2022”.

He sits on several committees such as through which he contributes to the industry with his knowledge and insight to industry developments.     He is member to Technical Committees to all major IACS Classification societies and organizations as follows:

• Member of the Board of Directors of Marshall Islands Shipowners Association
• Member of the Board of Directors of Intercargo Executive and Technical Committee
• Member of the Board of Directors of Intertanko Executive Committee
• Member of Class NK Owners Committee
• Vice Chairman of Bureau Veritas Hellenic Marine Technical Committee and Member of the Hellenic Black Sea Committee
• Chairman of CCS Mediterranean Technical Advisory Committee
• President of the Propeller Club of United States – International Port of Piraeus (November 2011- July 2013)
