IEEE SA Sustainable Maritime Industry Connections Activity

The IEEE Industry Connections Program helps incubate new standards and related products and services by facilitating collaboration among organizations and individuals as they hone and refine their thinking on rapidly changing technologies. The Industry Connections Program offers an efficient, economical environment for building consensus and producing shared results.

The Industry Connections Program manages a wide portfolio of activities across diverse industries, including the maritime industry. The goal of the IEEE SA Sustainable Maritime Industry Connections activity is to bring together areas of domain expertise focused on creating a collaborative community of interest around maritime issues and investigating opportunities for new standards, reports, events, and thought leadership in support of the maritime industry.  Join us today!

IEEE 45TM Series of Standards

Developed in collaboration with the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS), the IEEE 45TM series of standards offers recommended practices for shipboard electrical installations, including focuses on design, marine sectors and missions systems, systems engineering, cable systems, and more.

IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES)

The Power & Energy Society (PES) provides the world’s largest forum for sharing the latest in technological developments in the electric power industry, for developing standards that guide the development and construction of equipment and systems, and for educating members of the industry and the general public.

IEEE PES members receive exclusive and complimentary full digital access to a number of leading industry publications, including a new IEEE Energy Sustainability magazine launching in May 2025. These publications provide members with the latest information and content on critical topics related to the electric power industry.

Within IEEE PES, the Marine Systems Coordinating Committee (MSCC), coordinates with other committees of the PES, IEEE societies and committees, other technical organizations, and government agencies responsible for the application of power and energy at sea. The areas of coordination include:

  • Ships, Vessels, and Marine Platforms
  • Marine Wind, Wave, and Tidal Systems
  • Marine Transmission and Distribution
  • Marine Grounding and Safety
  • Related Environmental Impact Areas
