Net for Space is proud to be participating as subcontractor in the Greek Obs2OGS project, a cutting-edge initiative raised by ESA. The Greek Observatories to Optical Ground Stations (Greek Obs2OGS) project aims to upgrade the three Greek observatories: Chelmos (National Observatory of Athens), Skinakas (Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) and Cholomondas (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) function as optical ground stations (OGS) within the Hellenic quantum communication initiative. The overarching goal is to enable these observatories to operate both as astronomical observatories and OGS under the National Satellite Space Project of the Hellenic Republic.
Apart from Net For Space the Obs2OGS consortium spearheaded by Raymetrics S.A. as the prime contractor, includes also leading subcontracting companies such as Cailabs, Xairos, ProjectSoft as well as the teams from the three Greek Astronomical observatories: National Observatory of Athens (Chelmos Observatory on the Northern Peloponnese ), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – AUTH (Cholomontas Observatory near Thessaloniki) and the Institute of Astrophysics of the Foundation of Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH) which manages Skinakas Observatory, the common research infrastructure of the Univ. of Crete and FORTH.
