Michail D. Kokkinis was born in Andros in 1946 and graduated from the Nautical Lyceum of Andros. He studied Business Economics and Shipping in Greece and in London and has been active in the Shipping business since 1972.

He has been involved in the Ships Sale and Purchase business since 1980 and he is the Managing Director of GOLDEN DESTINY S.A., a Shipping and Shipbroking establishment based in Piraeus since 1994, which is one of the most active in its sector worldwide.
In the past Mr Kokkinis has been the President of the Hellenic Shipbrokers Association.
Since 1993 he is Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland, and for his general contribution he has been decorated with the Golden Cross of the Republic of Poland.
